Ok Randy, now you got me a little confused.In your first post you wrote that you finished lapping with 1000 grit sandpaper. I tought the dmt1200 actually equalled 1200 grit...:shrug:

I bought a small piece of the 12k from ChrisL to use as a slurry stone, and yes there is a lot of scratch marks in the surface from the dmt.hmmm..that could be a part of the problem.Thanks

Thanks Glen, so there will be no issues lapping the shapton with my dmt? Shapton recomends using their own lapping stone.(And eventually I will buy the entire collection if its that good.)
