Cold water face lathered shave. The Ern came in the mail yesterday so I reset the bevel and can say it is one nice shaving razor. I can see it becoming a favourite.

Yesterday I spent the whole evening cleaning the blade and setting a proper bevel. Tonight I worked on the edge with a coticule, followed by a Thuringian stone. The result? A big smile on my face, knowing I pulled this off once again. :)
This is the biggest blade I have ever put to my face and oddly enough it didn't feel... big. It felt like it was made for the job and I had a great time. A bit disappointed that I was smooth after two passes already. :)
A great razor from times gone by, still performing awesomely. I challenge anyone to find something from approximately 1830-1840 or so, that they still actively use around the house. They go silent. I don't, because I do, if you know what I mean.
All of this pleasure enjoyed to the tunes of "Early recordings of Billie Holiday", which means 30's and 40's songs. About a hundred year younger than the razor, lol.

If you're unimpressed with your Gillete Fatboy Magnus, I'm willing to exchange it for my Muhle R41 "Open Comb" de razor. :)
Try this, as an experiment: With the silo doors open and no blade inside, turn the settings-dial to "0". Put in a DE blade, close the silo doors, and raise the razor head to eye level, looking at it from the short side. Then, turn the settings dial slowly, from "0" through "9" -- each click brings the blade closer to the (closed) doors, flexing it and decreasing the angle between it and the blade guard. You'll see that a setting of "9" produces the smallest angle, with the least blade exposure; conversely, a setting of "0" gives the greatest angle and maximum blade exposure. I'm sure there's a setting that's right for you and your beard. But don't throw away your straight razors!
Smooth shaving!
Hmm well someone took away the 0 on my fatboy cuz mine goes from 1 to 9 :) the gap is much bigger when its set at 9 then it is when its set to 1.. how can it be more aggressive at 1... dont get it lol. well im gonna try it anyways :D

I'm very pleased how this edge paned out! I bought this razor for more (much more) than I normally do and after some buffing/light sanding/buffing (it had some thin scratches on the blades surface) I got a very nice bevel after a good while (heavy half to 1/4 hollow hard Swedish steel) and at that point I got a very nice feeling in my stomach :D :D
