Tom-I love that Herder! I just won a 76 round-point in NOS condition-blade only; now I have to figure out what to do with it.[/QUOTE]
The NOS ones available are supreme shavers, Aaron.
This is one of 11 plucked from a factory display board of 14.
In production, some were stopped before bevel set. Some were honed nicely.
This one was, after honing, on it's first shave ever.
What a lovely and smooth shave it delivered..
You will get a great shaver, no matter what it takes, FME.Last edited by sharptonn; 06-08-2019 at 01:48 AM.

Tom-I have no doubt of the shave, and I've been inspired by what you do with Herders. The last time I was at Smoky Mountain Knife Works (about 4 or 5 years ago), they seemed to have the world's entire collection of Herders on the walls in glass display cases. You didn't luck into some of those, did you? I'm thinking African Blackwood or Gaboon Ebony scales and silver appointments in at least a passing nod to tradition (at least in scale color), maybe black horn. Leave the blade mostly as is, as it appears untouched/unhoned. What do you think?Last edited by ScoutHikerDad; 06-08-2019 at 03:42 AM.

•Razor: TC’s Snail Forge/Bruno blade in Wootz Steel and Bone
•Soap: MDC Vetyver (naturally)
•Brush: Parker Chrome
•Aftershave: Royall Vetiver from Nelson’s most recent crazy contest (Royall always makes me think of “Royale with Cheese”-bonus points if you get the allusion)
*SOTD in honor of TC for his ongoing friendship and generosity. He surprised me with his Snail-Forge/Bruno blade in bone scales to play with for a bit. TC, I am enjoying your beautiful razor so much that I let that spike bite me twice in 2 shaves; maybe because it’s a little shorter, I let it “dig in” where I didn’t expect it to be. Ah, well-sometimes these blades have to remind us to respect them!
*Quick true story-The day after I got this blade in the mail unexpectedly, I took it as a sign. On our last (exhausting) day of school Friday, I stropped it up real fine and shaved with it before announcing our nearly 600 graduates’ names to thousands of people in our stadium and on live-stream. So thanks to TC and Bruno for helping me look my best! There are many roads to sharp.

Have a Great Saturday Gents!
Been a while since I posted, but had to put something up for this shave.
It was that GOOD! 3 passes and CBS, going out with SWMBO tonight and I will still be smooth then...Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity. ~Lucius Annaeus Seneca
