I'm going with Oct 11 submitted by Bob H. Love the setup and that razor is outstanding! It reminds me of just how simple a hot lather shave with a straight razor can be, without all the glamour!

And I say this because of what's written in the "SOTD Rules & Guidelines":

"We ask for the SOTD that every post consist of your shaving setup of the day. This means besides your razor or DE we like to see the remaining shaving setup like your cream or soap and shaving brush. The SOTD is a place where we share our daily shaving ritual and most of use make an effort to participate which is what makes the SOTD such a great and unique place. SOTD's that feature only a razor with no meaningful content and reposting the same picture over and over again will be deleted.. If you want to showcase your razor only you can use the 'Show and Tell', 'Razors' or 'Custom Builts and Restorations' forum."

I, for one, am quite tired of all the "arty" photographs; I want to see the whole "kit 'n kaboodle" -- show me all the components of what made this your SOTD... and this is why I don't "Like" every SOTD post -- sure, there are a lot of excellent photos... but they're not what this (sub-)forum is about. YMMV.

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

If those were the rules or criteria laid down for a SOTD photo, I'm afraid to say you would lose more than 60% of your posters including me, there's nothing wrong with improving your photography skills thinking about composition lighting, I applaud the effort of all SOTD posters, I could quite easily critique the photo you are referring to If I so wanted, for a start there's no need to include the wooden box or the signed Japanese paper in the shot, because they have nothing to do with the shave they are just props.
