Today was a very exciting day in the world of Big Red's shaving!!! so forgive the short story
I had tried selling my 7 day set, but it hadn't moved at a reasonable price. I always loved these blades, the size, but need the money for other things. Faced with "do I take less than they're worth or keep them" I grabbed one last night and honed it up. Mind you I don't have the proper setups, and although I have some old swatys and a frictionite, I found the 20yo three sided coarse, medium, fine combo I had worked! I'm not sure how fine the fine is, but pretty damn fine because I worked it out. (no tape on spine, I don't have a flat coarse stone to set a new bevel). tested it last night, once my whole hand was bald, four knuckles and a spot of knee I took it this morning to the bathroom.

shaved great. They are full hollow, and I prefer the heavier grinds, and have gotten use to more weight in my hand. But it did not disappoint. I wonder if I had a finer hone if it would be even a bit better, though doesnt' shave any worse than some that I've had done by honemeisters (NOT saying I'm a good hone person now. just happened that this blade didn't have any problems for me and my knife honing skills carried over).
only weird thing was if I took it from that hone to the swaty it stopped shaving. I wonder if my swaty needs to be lapped? anyways, I was excited! this means I potentially have a full 7 day set to play with. which by the way all tips are getting reground, I have come to totally dislike round points.

PS
Nivea sensitive skin aftershave. not bad, I've been waiting to buy an aftershave for months and finally picked this up this weekend. I also got witch hazel and alum powder to make my own though.
