Hi Greg,
We drank some wine, but I am not a big fan of Santa Ynez region's wines. The real McCoy is Napa Valley...now, that's where you get the good stuff. Most of the wineries we tried were more or less a watered down version of what they call wine and they buy their grapes from other regions (what the heck kind of winery is that??). There are two wineries that produce relatively good Pinots (Melville and Hitching Post...the latter became famous after the movie "Sideways")...we didn't have time to visit them. Next time.

Results: I love the smell of Musgo in the morning! (My SWMBO even likes the scent!) The big Wostie starts off the "Week of Wedges". :)

The Blue Steel Special saw the hones this A.M., and improved it's performance... We both got such a smooth and close shave, that the Pound Puppy looks a bit bored by the whole experience!

How do you feel about the Blue Steel in general? Does it hold a good edge over some time or do you feel like it needs touch ups more often than normal?

That puppy is lazy and shiftless, Robert! Sometimes I don't know why I keep him around... All he wants to do is laze around on the couch all day! But hey, that's what my wife says about me also.. :)

About the Kinfolks...
I don't have a feel for the longevity of edges on any of the razors yet... This one goes back to my early honing attempts, and while it still was a good shaver, I knew that at this point I could make it better.

I'll say one thing, it delivered an awesome shave this morning, and maybe one of the best! It doesn't hone as easily as many of the others, but it's a great shaver when it's right!

PREP: hot shower with face conditioner scrub
RAZOR: Barbers A-1
BRUSH: custom nib
SOAP: Glen's Lanolin Overload(Musgo Real SC, MWF soap, Glycerine)
SCUTTLE: Ikea bowl
ASTRINGENT: Superhazel
ASB: Sandalwood Skinfood
AS: Clubman OG
RESULT: One of my best shaves... :)

Well where to start. The razor was freshly honed by Robert,( thanks Robert!) and this thing took a great edge. One of the smoothest shaves i have felt. On top of it, the Lanolin Overload (thanks for the idea Glen!) is one of the best uberlathers i have ever tried. If anyone is a fan of uberlather, they need to try this one. The skinfood is always great too! Great Shave for a what is shaping up to be a great day!

I love the smell of Musgo too Bruce!! First time trying it this week, and although i was a little hesitant on the smell when smelling it in the tube it really opens up in the lather and is quite relaxing/pleasant. :)

I agree Matt! When I first smelled it right from the tube I thought it was a bit too "laundry soapish" if that makes any sense. lol But, when it's being lathered in the bowl the scent really blooms! If my SWMBO likes the scent, that's really rare! LOL :)

Robert,

We were in SF about 10 yrs ago and took a one day private guided Napa tour. It was fantastic! It was all good, but we really loved Pine Ridge. They have the best cabs. I guess I'll skip Santa Ynez - I hate pinots, and if it's their best....

BTW, the question about the pic was a poorly worded compliment:)
