Going tried and true today! Old school, but new blade...Gives me perfection every time!
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Pre-Shave prep: Stephan's Conditioning Smooth Shave Creme Razor: 5/8" Henckels #50, Full Hollow, Spike point Strop: SRD Premium IV (50 linen/75 leather) Brush: 22mm Vulfix Super Badger Überlather: CarrieM Dragon's Blood Shave Creme + Mama Bear's Amber Romance Shave Soap + Glycerin Post-shave/Astringent: Thayers Witch Hazel (Lavender, no alcohol) Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer EDT: Penhaligon Quercus Result: Today, I am hosting a guest from the Max Planck Institute (Dresden, Germany). So, what better way to shave than with my Henckels #50? Was für ein unglaubliches Shave :y(sorry Tom: My German is rusty). The performance of this blade was accentuated with the thick and super slick überlather that CarrieM's Dragon Blood provided. BTW: A few days ago, I was inspecting some of my blades' edges when I noticed a very small chip near the heel of this Henckels. So naturally, I took it to the Naniwa 1k and repaired the edge. Once an appropriate bevel was reached and the chip removed, it was sharpened on a Coti (slurry with dilucot), followed by the Naniwa 12k. Honing would not be complete without polishing the edge on the Y/G Escher. Simply fantastic!! what a difference an edge makes; Sharp and ultra smooth:tu.

A wet cold week here in the Inland Empire, looks like I predicted the weather correctly that we are going to have a long Fall this year...
I broke out a bit of the heavier Fall scents for this morning..
Using the 28mm Monster Mac I whipped up a TGQ Highlander Uberlather, this stuff comes out oh so creamy... The razor is a Puma Gold #91 sans the Gold, the scales are a Violet and Bronze swirl that earned the razor the name Pretty Kitty II... This razor is such a smooth shaver that I even put up with the fact I don't like Round Nose profiles :) I stropped her in on a SRD Premium 1 with 25/50 before the shower...
The shave was effortless followed by the stinging blast of Cap't Smith Bay Rum...

This one of the five razors I found at an antique store this weekend. I've never heard of the brand, and her former owner(s) have done some serious over-honing of the toe. Otherwise she is in pretty good shape.
Despite her shortcomings, I'll always remember her as the first razor I shaved with that I honed myself. I had to reset the bevel as there were minor irregularities in the edge.
I'll have to admit, putting her to my face was reminiscent of my first straight shave - that fear of the unknown. However, the shave went better than I expected. I can definitely tell Lynn didn't hone her. However, she delivered just below a DFS (4 hours later I can feel some stubble, but not see it) and no nicks. Some of this I can't blame on the honing job or the razor as I overslept and shaved rather quickly.
What a satisfying feeling knowing that I pulled it off all by myself! That is, if you ignore all the help received from Lynn and all my friends at SRP ;)
Now on to the other 4 finds:) http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...ore-finds.html
o.K. I need my glasses.
yeah, the edge does look like it has some chipping but there isn't - an optical illusion for sure.
Today I had the house to myself, perfect setting for a luxurious half hour in the shaving cave

I need to learn how to take better pictures. I learn that after I learn to shave!!
Anyway,
Hot shower
Warm oil
Hand made Badger
Hand made ceramic bowl (daughter)
Castle Forbes SC (finally getting it to lather well, now I understand)
Wade and Butcher, Notch, honed by Dylan stropped to death by me.
AOS Aluminum
Osage Rub
Vaseline for men
Great shave again. Getting better at the stropping. Tonight 40 laps felt, 100 leather. Nice and slow and watching my technique. Damn if it don't work!! Passed the BBT with flying colors.

Shavemac 21mm | Cella | Gillette SS -- Shark Super Chrome | Razorock Alum | Art of Shaving Sandalwood Balm
This was my first time using the Cella soap/cream. I had some anxiety about how to lather with this stuff, but after some experimenting, I lathered it just like any other soap and my results were very good. I really like the Cella and to me, it develops into a much creamier lather than other soaps. I'm looking forward to using it with a straight tomorrow.
I had to use the DE more out of necessity than choice this morning, but I'm glad I did. A very smooth, comfortable, quick shave.

Today's shave was the first shave after returning from being out of town with work. It was nice to use another razor from the stable (I only travel with 1). The Livi did not disappoint and laid waste to the whiskers before it.

Good morning Gentleman.
Today I'll prepare at first a NOS produced by Filarmonica for the " Castagnon" hairdressers in Madrid, the razor celebrates the 50 anniversary of its establishment in 1907, it was made in 1957.
It is a really 8/8 singing blade.
Maybe I rescale it.
Stay tuned.
