Again the Gotta delivered a superb shave. I did however have a momentary lapse in concentration and ended up with a half inch cut right in the middle of my left cheek from its rather unforgiving point. I was actually thinking about hones so I cant exactly say my mind wasnt on the job.
Also in this shot is some new restoration gear which came in this week.
Looking forward to getting home and trying some new techniques.

After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber

Result: This Wacker has not seen much action for ~5 months, so today was the perfect opportunity to remedy this oversight. This blade's got it all...brains and beauty. The prelude to this wonderful shave was provided by the Floris; a triple milled soap with refreshing scent. I didn't have the "JF" shave creme to complement the soap (I understand that Floris stopped making this creme. I gotta find me this JF creme)...So, I had to settle with mixing the JF soap with the №89 Creme...nevertheless, I was rewarded with a marvelously moist, thick and luxurious überlather. What a shave...pure bliss and refreshingly smooth.

Starting the day off with a nice Warm !!!! shave and shower

Some steaming hot towels, then mixing up the "Sandals" UberLather
some HoneyBee Spas Sandalwood Musk soap and C&E Sandalwood cream + 5 drops of Glycerin...
Used the ole' ShaveMac 28mm Silvertip this morning, just needed that big huge soft brush :)

More steaming towels for prep and lathered up, 25/50 on the SRD Premium One this morning watching that beautiful Rose Damascus that Maestro Livi created zip up and down the buttery smooth leather...
One more steamed towel over the lather, a hot water splash and re-lather, a single multi directional pass this morning, HWR and re-lather WTG touch up so lightly that you can hear tiny little pops as a few stray hair get caught a last HWR and into a warm shower...
A cold water rinse after the shower and some Ogallala Bay Rum / Sandalwood aftershave to send me outside in the cold to split wood and get the shop warmed up for some razor work today....

Still humming that stupid old song :D

Thanks Robert! It´s a Shieffield blade and they also made a (slightly more famoust) safety razor: the Wardonia. The brush and handle is a custom job from a dutch artisant guy (Henk:)).

This is slightly off topic and perhaps a moot point. I didn't see whether there was a controversy over the 'thanks' button here on the SOTD threads or not. I'm reading between the line and am guessing that somebody didn't care for folks "artificially" increasing their 'thanks' count through the use of pictures.

This is the first forum that I participate in that uses(ed) the 'thanks' feature - I think it spectacular. True, the mods/owners/whomever get to decide how/what they want to do, but if the thought process was that "any old monkey can take a picture and we want to recognize those leaders in the community that share their knowledge with the rest of us", I can only comment that taking a SOTD photo is not a short process. The good photos probably have at least 30 minutes behind them in terms of concept, design, shooting, editing, posting, etc. I'd humbly say that we DO want to recognize those folks that are putting forth some great art with our favorite subject as the focus. Plus, a crappy photo isn't going to get a 'thanks'.

To my mind the 'thanks' button should be all about recognition around participation - whether that be "here's a wonderful photo" (which might make me want to run out and get some new soap, a strop, or even a razor - all of which have happened, btw), "here's a video of me shaving", or "here's some written advice on WTG, ATG, XTG, etc.".

So... that's my two cents. I vote to bring back the 'thanks' option. It makes it 100x easier to say "dude, awesome photo, thank you" vs. posting a message to say the same.

In other words, you can be a participating, helpful newcomer judged by your peers vs. your post count (the traditional method of determining who is an old fart vs. a young whippersnapper).
