The Hamburg ring is finally shaving the way it's supposed to be. I hope the Sprock will do the same when I shave-test it tomorrow as Dave is coming over to choose his prize and take it lol. The Nomad soap still dries out WAY too quickly.

Royall Limes - Royal Muske cologne.
Well, Lynn has absolutely outdone himself this time. As most of you know Lynn does all of my honing for me at the moment, so I am used to his work. When I bought this 9/8 wedge and it was shaveable, but not spectacular, but Lynn really transformed this edge. This wedge is now one of my top 2 or 3 shavers, and it shaves like its nobody's business.
I had a spectacular shave after not shaving all week because I didnt have time to pack a razor and my dopp kit so I decided not to shave all week rather than use anything other than a straight! :tu

Decent shave.
Used the DOVO Bismarck (bone, 5/8) and the 1805 cream I got from David (thanks Dave :D). Used too much water, too little cream so the lather wasn't as good as I could have made it, but the scent was amazing. I'll experiment with the ratios tomorrow as well.

L'Occitane CADE AS balm
Honeybee gave me very mild lather but it wasn't as slick as the one I get from Tabac. I thought I had the 4/8 EAB ready (passing HHTs) but it tugged quite a bit on my cheeks. This would have been a disaster on the neck, so I switched to a heftier and I thought sharper Puma 69. Not quite there either... Feeling irritated, I resorted to my 1/4 hollow Badaud 6/8 barber's notch from Joe Chandler. Oh, the preasure of a sharp razor. Joe is my hero.
Shave was going down but the Badaud saved the day. Zero cuts, just a slight 2 by 2 red area under chin as I got a bit aggressive, 2 nicks (no blood) - not bad for me.
Cheers
Ivo
Today I shaved with The Winner and got a nice lather out of the 1805. BBS and a perverse pleasure of a pre-interview shave :D

Tonsorial turned out to be great today. Ended up with a very clean shave, followed up with DBR. In all honesty, I'm trying to go through it as soon as possible and switch almost exclusively to Old Spice.
Managed to NOT shave. Now I'll have nice 3 days' growth for the...
7/8 SATINEDGE HONED BY JOE!!!
That's got to be good :D It better be good!
Ivo, I can guarantee you that it won't be good. Satinedges are crappy and Joe doesn't know how to hone. Send it over here for proper disposal :w

However, I am not crazy about its looks, to be honest. Somehow in person it seems... don't know but not as appealing to me as others. I have 4 other top razors that cost me less than that. If this Duck does not turn out to be the best of them (and it has to compete with an absolutely fabulous Puma, which is worth at least as much) I might actually pass it along. At least several people indicated they might be interested when Iwan offered it for sale...
Ivo, you know which one I'd REALLY be interested in. If you don't like it, make me an offer :D As for Satinedges.. I have one and it's like a middling in my rotation. Not bad but not one of my favorites either.

Palmolive lather
Feather "Artist Club" with super pro blade

Last day with the Feather since I'm heading home early tomorrow morning. It's too bad I didn't get a chance to see more of Scotland, but work has priority. Did get some good beer once or twice, though.
How do I start...
3 days' growth
Shower
conditioner
Proraso brush
L'O CADE soap
7/8 Satinedge spike
ice cube
L'O CADE AS Balm
To start with, lather did not come as well as I usually get it. This is because I started lathering on the face, and I now think the Proraso boar brush does not hold water as well as my silvertips. I took out the bowl, but the start was already bad.
The 7/8 Satinedge. Don't know about the Feather, but this thing seemed unforgiving sharp, indeed, and I have used 2 other razors by Joe Chandler, as well as one from Bill and PappaBull.
This was my longest shave of late, and I was just FORCED to take my time. More nicks that I care to admit (but I'll say it - 5!) Nothing that cold water didn't fix, most were really really just small. No cuts, luckily.
This razor sings so much, it flexes and stalls at times in my growth. I think most of the stalling was due to bad angles, btw. Smoothest shave with a straight ever, and except the nicks, no abrazions from blade. However, it took me so long I think my skin developed little red spots from the soap (my skin is sensitive, and I took much more than I usually take later) Interestingly, I had the nicks on cheecks, where I usually have no problems at all. Also, I had GREAT results on my neck, where I usually get some abrasions and nicks due to the difficulty dealing with growth in every direction and general facial relief there. I haven't done my neck with a straight closer or better EVER.
Several hours later I am still quite smooth and skin looks fab, not really any traces of nicks or red spots.
Conclusion: I don't know what to think or do yet. I thought this razor had to beat my best Puma to stay. Wel, it did - on the most difficult areas to shave. But, boy, was it a long and engaging shave! Stalling - again, I think angles should fix this... And it will get a bit duller with use...
I think I'll keep it for now and see how I progress with it. Unquestionably a great, sharp shaver, maybe too great for me (right now). But it fits my hand so well, I don't want to let it go.

Today was Taylor-day. I would not have shaved yesterday had I know I was going to get my hair cut (as I like a very clean shave on those occasions), but the shave turned out just fine. I added an extra pass, where I used hair conditioner instead of the usual lather (today was C&E Sweet Almond Oil cream). The shave was very clean and smooth with 0 nicks (which is becoming a regular occurence). Since I did 4 passes, I took a safety measure and used an almond-based diaper rash cream after using the DBR.
Been working on a 6/8 TI Evide Sonnant for Billy Jay and finally got it into singing shape yesterday. Brilliant shave with it this morning. I think he'll like it. Other factors?

- Hot shower
- 7 days growth (don't ask)
- BK 8 brush
- Trumpers violet shaving cream sample (I liked the cream)
- 9/8 Marsh Bros Wedge
- Multipass shave (5 passes) and now I cant tell my face ever grew hair, I would have to say it was better than my best DE shave, which is probably a first. I did more skin stretching on this shave than I can ever remember, which definitely helped.
- Alumblock (which I REALLY enjoyed)
- Trumpers Violet aftershave (not at all impressed)
- Coral Skin Food
- Royall Muske Cologne
