Coral skin food

shower
5050 kent brush
7/8 TI silversteel red stamina
Kruidvat shaving cream
hot water, cold water
TAGMSC after shave balm
amazing result. I'm really glad Iinvested in it. The 7/8 still feels quite big (even after 2 months of use) but I love it anyway. Looking forward to getting my 6/8 back from Bill....I'll be able to alternate between 5/8, 6/8, and 7.8 then. I love them all really.
Hot shower
6/8 Thiers Super Gnome
Illinois 127 strop
3 hot towel wraps (one between passes)
Stainless Conk Bowl itting it hot water (Two sinks)
Colonel Conk pure bager
Colonel Conk Bay Rum Soap
Alum Bloc
Proraso Aftershave balm
Jeris Talc
And I sit back, run my hand over my bb smooth face, and think to myself "it's good to be alive!"
Truly a super shave today. The hot towels make a noticeable difference. Ran the bloc over my face to feel almost nothing. WoW! I love it when that happens. Used the Conk brush for the first time today. Since I got my MP Silvertip months ago, I pushed the Conk brush back in the drawer. The pure badger was noticeably stiffer than my silvertip, but it was not bad. It whipped the soap into a nice lather quickly. It will definately get used in the rotation.
Daren.
For the weekend shave I've chosen:
5/8 TIMOR Hamburg Ring
SMF II silvertip brush
Palmolive shaving cream
Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue A/S (I love this stuff, it's great...:tu )
Herban Cowboy A/S balm (another favorite...)
Thomas
Yesterday I've received my Timor, fresh honed and shaveready from a friend of mine and it's really, really sharp, cut the hairs with a "pling"..., great.
I'm not sure if I should try to hone my razors by myself:hmmm: :hmmm:

I wanted to shave-test the little Eskiltuna frameback I got from Ivo and the Filly #12. Near the end of stropping the Eskiltuna, I caught the edge and gave my strop a DEEP cut. Took me forever to work it out. There are 2 reasons for this:
1) The razor construction -- The blade and the tang are very thin. The only thick part of it is the spine that got clamped onto it. The blade is also very narrow so it doesn't have a big blade's tendency to stay flat.
2) I didn't adjust for the razor's construction.
In addition to that, the Filly wasn't honed properly. It shaved but it pulled like a $##%$#%. I don't remember shaving with a blade honed that badly. My excuse is that I was impatient to try the new bench-hone. Ofcourse I delayed the tryout with an insuficient honing job.
Today I'm going to finish the Filly and repair the edge on the Eskiltuna. Next time I strop it, I'll be EXTRA slow and careful.
Ahhh... just finished one of my best shaves ever.
Florena Shaving Cream
Fontenille Medaille d'Or 134 (50)
Must've given it some special love when stropping because I don't remember
it ever having such cutting authority.
AS: cool water (and not the one by Davidoff)

Sorry to hear this, Ilija! At least you were smart enough to delay the tryout (last time I had an insufficiently sharp razor I just went on with the shave  )Quote:
