Soap: Mama Bears Spicey Lime + Godrej Lime

Wonderful shave. I stropped it about 100 laps on felt, then 100 on cowhide and finished with 150 on horsehide before shaving with it today. It's been a few months since she was out of the case, so I wanted to be certain the edge was clean and smooth. It did not disappoint, let me tell ya. Smooth!!! Clean in 2 passes and comfortable as could be.
Hope all are having a great weekend!!! I've been loving the razor porn as always, keep the great pics and shaves coming!!

First shave with the new Jernbologet frameback this morning. I honed this on Sunday morning after spending hours polishing it over the last week. I started with circles on 800 Wet and Dry wrapped around the Norton hone (I don;t have a 1k hone), then did circles on the Norton 4 until it cut leg hairs. I then did a ‘pyramid’ thing of 20 x 4, 20 x 8, 19 x 4, 20 x 8, 18 x 4, 20 x 8 all the way to 1 x 4, 20 x 8. I then did 20 laps on the Shapton 16k. I tested it through all that only with the initial shaving of leg hair and a thumb pad test at the end. I think one can quite easily tell if a razor is shave ready just using the thumb pad test. This morning's shave proved that theory, however an edge can always get better. Maybe 10 more on the Shapton on the W/E, or even back to the 8? I want this one 'scary sharp'. It's up to it, I think, it can do it. Because I'd polished the blade over maybe four or five hours with Wet and Dry (400, 600, 800) the edge was quite dull.
The finish on the razor isn't perfect, but I want to stop here as I'm afraid of wrecking the scales. I've been told they're leather; and I'd have to agree with that. Leather scales to me seem quite rare; I've not heard of that before...
I made an Überlather with Body Shop Macca Root, Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn and glycerine. The D. H. Harris Bay Rum aftershave and the Pashana Bay Rum Hair Tonic went well together of course.

I have not had a really nice shave in a while. Was rushed all last week so I used a DE. Took my time today since there was no one home and the result was a relaxing, close shave. The TOBS lathered up really well and the Torrey was buttery smooth after the re-fresh.
I had a nice long weekend: Visit to the Thomas A. Edison Museum here in NJ. What an amazing place to see, I highly recommend it. Then on Saturday I drove with the wife to DC and had a really nice visit with Bill and Hiroko and did some site seeing.
Today's shave put a nice touch on the weekend.

Congrats on the first day of school. My oldest daughter's first day was quite trying as she grabbed onto my pant leg, started to cry and would not let go. God Bless her teacher who came over to her, spoke softly and convinced her she was going to have a good day. Now.....she is in Grad school!!
All my best to your son and your family.

This razor restored well, honed well and shaves very well. An incredible edge. The heel is so sharp as to almost need muting. So crisp and smooth I regretted when the shave was over. :)

Happy Labor Day to my fellow Yanks.
Pulled out the 4/8 Kropp today. Honed this myself a few months back and have never been crazy about it. Failed an HHT out of the display case; I decided to give it 50 laps on the CROx strop, followed by a dozen laps on the diamond for good measure. Couple of minutes, and it was plinking the hairs audibly and consistently across the edge. The shave was pretty good. Not outstanding, but good. (Although I'd truly say that any shave with MWF is, by definition, more than just good.) Pinaud Clubman to finish. Overall, quite satisfying.
Cheers!

Hi gents! hope every one's week is off to a good start. Finally honed up the ACUTUS yesterday - It honed up so well that I stopped at 8k (something I haven't done for a long time). The shave test today was pretty incredible considering, I managed all the ususal passes and only suffered slightly under the chin as a result. I've been a bit hit and miss lately on the finishers so I'm not sure whether or not to add to this edge. Might just go with CrO and try again. To today's menu:
Pre: Truefill & Hill preshave oil
Soap: Trumper's Coconut oil
Scuttle: Dirty Bird
Brush: Thater Olivewood

Tuesday
My manager at work asked me the other day if I’d heard of ‘Emotional Intelligence’. I said ‘yes’, even though I hadn’t actually, but I’d heard of all the ‘other intelligences’ they seem to have these days. She said she’d get me some ‘readings’ if I liked. Do you think that she’s saying I don’t have any emotional intelligence? Maybe I'm an emotional moron? If I was, you'd tell me, wouldn't you? I might be able to tap into some sort of special funding...
This morning’s shave with the De Pews was nice. I think the edge can still be better, but it’s quite nice as it is. The Clubman was a perfect scent for a warm spring day. Today’s temp was about 25, which is the warmest we’ve had for ages. I think in heaven it’s always going to be spring for me…
Listened to The Brian Jonestown Massacre (the album ‘Love’) followed by extremely loud old style Gospel music on the way to work. Was upset to see a dead possum, a dead kangaroo and a dead cat on the way. Was happy to see bright yellow fields of yellow canola. I hope you’re all having a nice week.

I had three days growth when I woke up this morning and headed into the den. I knew I wanted to go top shelf to get rid of that mess, so I reached for the Dovo 55, and the Windsor soap. Beard prep was my usual these days - wash the face then apply hair conditioner to the whiskers while I shower. After stropping up the Dovo on my Torolf horsehide/linen, I set to work making the lather. The Windsor scent immediately filled the den with its rich, earthy citrus scent. I took an extra long time building the lather on my face this morning because I was so intoxicated with the fragrance, and because the Thäter brush felt so good massaging the lather into the thick mess of beard. With a face full of lather, I set to work with the Dovo. It swept away the facial hair as if nothing had been there. Two passes, plus touch ups later, I was clean and smooth! A quick splash of the Lucido confirmed that the Dovo did its job efficiently as there was not the slightest sting, just a cooling mentholated moisture. The pièce de résistance was the vintage Chanel Antæus, which has got to be one of the best leather scents ever made for a man! What a morning!

Prep: Hot Shower Proraso pre-post creme
Brush: Thater 4125-2 26mm bulb
Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G-5
Soap:Pannacrema 'Casablanca'
Razor: Kropp 11/16"
Post: Lagerfeld Classic AS/ Nivea Lotion unscented
Result: There are times when you wake up in the morning and it's great to be alive. Then there are times when you wake up in the morning and it's great to be a man! Yup, this would be one of those times. Got to try two new things today for the second time. The first was the soap, the second was the razor. We'll start with the razor. Kropp razors have gotten good reviews from the members on this site and this one is a great shaver and completely lived up to the spin. First shave with it was slightly harsh, took it to a light slurry on the Naniwa 12k and honed to clear water, stropped and shaved, close. 10 laps on the pasted strop and Voila! Shaving nivana. Now, the soap! I received this soap from our very own Legal Beagle. Thank You, Bill! After using this soap twice, I must say that it has risen to the top tier of my rotation. It is a soft Italian soap and lathers up beautifully. A few swirls on the puck loaded the Thater and it feels like a cloud of creamy goodness on your face! This is as you would expect, but the real surprises come when you get a whiff of the scent and the moisturizing effect on your skin after the shave!
The scent is subtle but definitely there. Rich amber with a slightly floral note, i must find this in a bottle because it is pure intoxication! This is the top soap for moisturizing! That includes MWF! Thought it would pair well with the Lagerfeld classic and wow 3 passes and off to a long week at work (short on days, long on hours...)

Have a Great Tuesday Gents!
Prep: Brisk 30 minute run, morning pipe, lukewarm shower
Razor: Boker Red Injun 102
Brush: Semogue 2000
Soap: Arko Shavestick
AS: Nivea Double Action Balm, Skin Bracer
Finish: Clubman
Result: I seldom do 3 pass shaves any more (especially on work days) but I just felt like it this morning and the results were fantastic. I should point out that this razor is the founder of the feast, my first "real" straight razor. The last time I shaved with it, the edge seemed to be getting a bit muddy. Today, a couple hundred laps on horsehide straightened that right up and delivered a great shave.
