Proraso|G5|Thater|Pannacrema|Aiku FBU|Proraso|Iggy's BalmWhen was the last time you guys were really excited about a razor, I mean as in when you first started with a straight. Today was one of those days for me and I would like to thank my friend Bill (LegalBeagle) for that generous gift! I received this razor yesterday in a trade we conjured up. I sent him a brush and stand and he sent me this razor. What a beautiful piece of steel it is, I have wanted to try a japanese blade for a long time, and Bill came through gangbusters! He honed the edge using a full progression on his Jnat hones and the edge is super smooth and deceptively sharp, that coupled with the Pannacrema soap and Thater brush made for an unforgettable shave. 3 passes and I am of to work on the last day before a long holiday weekend feeling like a king!

Good morning y'all! Today I'm taking a play from IamSt8ght's playbook and posting my SOTD while I wait for my truck's oil to be changed. I used another DE setup for today's shave (in the interest of time, and to try a new set up):
Prep - hot shower
Soap - TOBS Grapefruit (can't get over the impressive lather and scent)
Brush - M&F 2XL in butterscotch
Razor - UFO Goliath XXL handle, FaTip polished head, and Gillette Silver Blue blade
Post - cold water, alum, Kiehl's lotion
EDT - Creed, Milessime Imperial

Have a great day!
Tuesday - no shave, went to doctor and tested for flu. Test result - negative (copayment 30 dollars).
Wednesday - no shave, woke up dry heaving and fever of 101.7...seems like something changed since that negative result?
Wednesday afternoon call doc and get scrip for Tamiflu.
Thursday - feeling human again, but still not well. Must report this Tamiflu stuff seems to be worth the insane price.
Will shave this afternoon and I'm sure it will be great. A three-day-growth shave is always great;)

THURSDAY
Hot shower prep
Razor: Ground from WWII Herder blank
Soap: Supermax Ultra 3
Mug: English
Brush: Austrian boar
Aftershock: Allum block
Splash: TARR
http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...F0280_crop.jpg
The day? Great <7ºC. The Shave? Great It is dry in the house and I needed to add water a few times to get a lasting wet lather. The Super-max is a very good product! TARR is what Old Spice would be if it had balls! The old heavy razor did the job with no fuss in two passes.
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!

A great shave with the Belgian cleaver again. Ejoyed this time to the "tunes" of Slayer - Reign in Blood. Lucky I didn't nic myself in the process. :D
Enjoy your Easter gents!
Todays stubble slicings were achieved with the following items...
Attachment 125811
Pre : Hot water, Old Spice preshave wash
Brush : Progress Vulfix 404
Soap : Proraso green tub
Razor : Merkur 15C
Blade : Personna
Post : Cold water, alum block, Nivea AS balm
Finish : Ok
Comments :
I'm not sure if it's technique or what, but the Proraso lather dries much quicker than anything I've used before, and requires one re-application mid-WTG pass and one mid-XTG pass.
Proraso Pre-shave
Feather Blades
Clubman ASL
QCS Vetiver
Osma Alum

My first shave with Feather blades was horrific. I had razor burn all day and my skin was sensitive for another day. Today, I definitely had different results. Close shave in two passes.
Prep: Hot Shower
Razor: W&B, The Celebrated, For Barber's Use, 9/8
Strop: SRD Prem I
Brush: AOS Fine Badger
Cream: T&H Trafalgar
A/S: Pinaud Clubman
Result: I am down to the last servings of both the T&H cream and Pinaud. I am using them daily to finish them off and move on, but they just seem to keep giving. It's amazing how little cream and aftershave is used per shave. Anyhow, this blade has always delivered a fine, smooth, BBS shave. Looking at this pic, I think I'll spend some time polishing it. I'm sure it can look a lot better. Hope your day is going well.

Just finished the shave. It was good, but I'm still fatigued and started setting dizzy toward the end. It was a DFS and confirmed to me that I among this group of straight wielding wet shavers (Anyone that can shave with a straight while having dizzy spells that border on hallucinations and not draw blood, must surely have secured some right of passage into the group, right?)
Location: White River Junction, VT
Razor: 6/8 Wheatley Brothers Wheat Sheaf Round
Strop: Cangooner Enterprises #1
Brush: Vulfix Travel
Soap: Proraso
Shave: 3 passes, WTG/XTG/ATG
Astringent: Alum
A/S: Captain's Choice Bay Rum
I've taken this shaving thing on the road for an extended weekend trip mostly to Boston. Tonight, I'm about half way there. This is a pretty picturesque part of the world, and it must be spectacular when the fall colours arrive. Excellent prices on single malts across the river in New Hampshire too. I just wish I could bring more than one bottle home with me.
