Todays stubble slicings were achieved with the following items...
Pre : Hot water, Old Spice preshave wash
Brush : Progress Vulfix 404
Soap : Proraso green tub
Razor : Merkur 15C
Blade : Personna
Post : Cold water, alum block, Nivea AS balm
Finish : Ok
Comments :
I'm not sure if it's technique or what, but the Proraso lather dries much quicker than anything I've used before, and requires one re-application mid-WTG pass and one mid-XTG pass.~ Dave ~ ... back to lurking...

Proraso Pre-shave
Feather Blades
Clubman ASL
QCS Vetiver
Osma Alum
My first shave with Feather blades was horrific. I had razor burn all day and my skin was sensitive for another day. Today, I definitely had different results. Close shave in two passes. From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place

Prep: Hot Shower
Razor: W&B, The Celebrated, For Barber's Use, 9/8
Strop: SRD Prem I
Brush: AOS Fine Badger
Cream: T&H Trafalgar
A/S: Pinaud Clubman
Result: I am down to the last servings of both the T&H cream and Pinaud. I am using them daily to finish them off and move on, but they just seem to keep giving. It's amazing how little cream and aftershave is used per shave. Anyhow, this blade has always delivered a fine, smooth, BBS shave. Looking at this pic, I think I'll spend some time polishing it. I'm sure it can look a lot better. Hope your day is going well.

Thanked: 247Just finished the shave. It was good, but I'm still fatigued and started setting dizzy toward the end. It was a DFS and confirmed to me that I among this group of straight wielding wet shavers (Anyone that can shave with a straight while having dizzy spells that border on hallucinations and not draw blood, must surely have secured some right of passage into the group, right?)

Shave: 3 passes, WTG/XTG/ATG
Astringent: Alum
A/S: Captain's Choice Bay Rum
I've taken this shaving thing on the road for an extended weekend trip mostly to Boston. Tonight, I'm about half way there. This is a pretty picturesque part of the world, and it must be spectacular when the fall colours arrive. Excellent prices on single malts across the river in New Hampshire too. I just wish I could bring more than one bottle home with me.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
