Today's shave is bitter/sweet for me since it is my first shave after the passing of my father and it is Father's Day. It has been 30 days since I used a Str8 and I was looking forward to today's shave.
Hot Shower
Dirty Bird Scuttle
Warm shave oil
Castle Forbes Lavender Shave Cream
Silver tip badger in Maccasser Ebony, pre-ban ivory by Bill (Pixelfixed)
Home made strop by me.
Joseph Rodgers & Sons, 6/8 wedge, Barber's notch in Ivory
Hot towels
Razorock Aluminum
Pinaud Lilac Vegetal AS
Vaseline for men
After 30 days of crappy shaves I thoroughly enjoyed today's shave. The blade was recently honed by Nelson and provided a really smooth edge. I did three passes and then really enjoyed the hot towels which I let linger on my skin. SWMBO let me do the BBT which I passed with flying colors. I should mention that I had a little trouble getting a good lather with the Castle Forbes. I could not understand until I realized that the badger was so thick, it needed more water. I was amazed at the amount of water this knot held onto. Once I added the right amount of water, the CF and brush combined for a really incredible amount of thick lather.
Happy Father's Day, I hope everyone enjoys their day.
