Default What do you guys do with your DE blades between shaves?

I am almost embarrassed to ask this, but what is proper treatment for DE blades between shaves?
I have been a long time Straight razor shaver and just recently, for convenience sake, switched over to DE.
Something that I never had to worry about when using straight razor.
-Easy, just dry the blade and put the razor away.

Should I just dry the blade and put it back in the razor? Should it stay out? As with most metal, the less handling, the better? Right?

I am really surprised by just how delicate these little blades are. Good thing they are disposable.

    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Will

I leave mine in the razor, give it a good rinse after use, then dry (handle & head). If I notice gunk stuck on the blade that won't rinse off, I may pull the blade out and hand strop it, to clean it off. Sometimes I use rubbing alcohol and that will flush out the gunk too, although not every time.

No reason to be embarrassed for asking. I have a DE safety razor and two single-edge ones. I find myself gravitating towards the single-edge ones also because I find it easy to strop the blades between uses. I put the blade in one of those hairdresser's straight-looking disposable-blade razors, and I strop away. I get a good 2 extra shaves by doing this. With DE blades, it's a lot harder--actually, if there's a way, I haven't found it.

Otherwise, I clean DE blades with a Q-tip saturated in rubbing alcohol, which gives me an accurate way to wipe out any soap residue.

I have started using the advice from Leisureguy's Guide to Gourmet Shaving and it has worked well for me. He simply suggests rinsing the razor in hot water and setting it on its side to dry. If using a carbon-steel blade, hard water, have acne or razor bumps, rinse the razor head in 91% or higher rubbing alcohol. He says there's no need to remove the blade or even loosen the razor's grip on the blade.

Gentlemen, I remove blade after the shave, rinse it with hot water, pat it dry, wrap it the original paper and put it away in the designated area where I keep all my blades to be used. The razor then is rinsed under hot water, wiped dry and put back in the rack. My DE shave is sporadic, since I shave straight, but even when I used the DE more often, this was my routine. Keep it nice and clean, is what I say.

The 91% rubbing alcohol helps with acne?

When I use a DE I use it only once. No storage problem.
When I use the Feather or Kia. It take them apart rinse, soak in alcohol. Let dry and then put the blade back in sharp side down.

I leave the blade in but with occasionally take it out clean off any built up gunk. I stopped keeping my blades in the bathroom a while ago.

I'm just starting out with a DE, but have been using a SR for a year. For my straights, I created a drying box (cedar box with rubber gaskets to keep out the humidity; I fill the box with rice) that I have been using after I wipe down the DE with a tissue. I break my three piece DE down, remove the blade and place them all overnight in the box.
