Default "The modern version of a timeless classic!"

I haven't shaved with a DE razor since I was in high school...and
that was many moons ago. I'd been thinking about trying that again,
but I was reluctant to jump right in with the purchase of a fancy
new one. So, when I saw an ad on TV for a "kit" (razor, blades,
travel case) for "only" $19.99, "The modern version of a timeless
classic!", I took the bait. https://www.onerazor.com/

First of all, I should have known better about the "only" price.
After adding tax, shipping and handling charges, the total came to
$35.77. Fool that I am, I went for it anyway.

Well, the kit was delivered today and what I got was a bit of a
disappointment. I shudda known, right? The razor feels light (pot
metal?) and the mechanism seems rather loose. The razor comes in a
"handy" travel case, which is made of flimsy plastic, but it does
have a mirror on the inside of the lid: it's about an inch wide
and it isn't much good...unless your face is about an inch wide.

Also included in the deal are 24 "MicroTouch One Precision Blades".
That's what the outside of the package says anyway. Inside, the
blade wrapper says, "Dorco Platinum ST300 Stainless Blade."
    Made in China.

I thought about just sending the kit back for a refund, but that
would cost me $4.95 more for return postage, and I still would only
get a 19.99 refund...someday. Not worth it. "Gotcha, sucker!"

OK. Here it is then, like it or not, so I might as well give it a
try. I lathered up, put a blade in the razor, and went with a WTG
pass. The sideburn line was nice and clean, but edging around the
goatee was problematic, and whisker removal was only marginal. So,
I relathered and had a go at XTG/ATG, followed by a water only
    touch-up.

Initially, the shave felt OK...not great like with a straight...but
OK. Surprisingly enough, even after a 50-year lay-off from DEs,
I didn't cut myself. However, 2 hours later I could feel stubble
just about everywhere on my face. Not a good shave at all.

True: it was the first time in a long time; the equipment is not
first rate; and I probably shouldn't have bought the kit in the
first place. My bad. Maybe after reading this, you won't make the
    same mistake.
