Default My New Favorite DE Blade?

I didn't feel like using a straight razor today, so I decided to try out the Bolzano Superinox Inossidabile DE blades I received in the mail. The reviews I read on these Italian blades (now made in Germany) were from "the very best" to "shaving with a cinder block". What a difference, I had to find out for myself.

I threw one in my trusty Edwin Jagger DE89 (always smooth shaves) and used some HTGAM Gondolier shaving soap. An Italian scent with an Italian blade, "made for each other" I jokingly said to myself. I didn't really need a shave this morning because I had such a good shave with a freshly sharpened straight razor the day before but I decided to shave anyway. I did a 3 pass shave and no redness, irritation or nicks. It was a very smooth shave. I think the DE89 and the Bolzano Superinox are a very good match, for my face anyway. I think the Astra Superior Platinum just dropped from my #1 to my #2.

Do you think you got lucky or do the blades vary in quality? I guess that's the big question.

I'm not sure yet but I hope the quality is consistent . The HTGAM site states "The exquisite Bolzano Blade, Italy's best-selling, most popular DE blade! Revered by Barbers across the globe, and anyone who has had a chance to try them!". After reading that, I had to give them a try.

I am glad you had a good start with them. I look forward to seeing how it does over 4-5 shaves for you. They seem to be one of those love 'em or hate 'em blades for some reason.

I used the blade for the 4th time the other day but this time I used it in my new Symmetry Open Comb razor. It was the first time I've ever used a open comb razor. I did a 3 pass shave, I almost stopped at 2 passes but I kept going. All I can say is "Yikes!!" what a close shave! If the blade was new I would've definitely stopped at 2 passes. It was so close but smooth.

I used the blade for the 5th time this morning but I used my Edwin Jagger DE89. I only did a 2 pass shave and was in a real hurry. The shave wasn't the best but it was ok for a 2 pass shave.
