Neils1304 - Thanks for the suggestion but my wife, the boss, says no... so that's the end of that!

Cool story on the slim! Funny enough it's James bond that got me started on traditional shaving in the first place. It was the scene in the latest one (Skyfall...I'm probably one of the younger members here) where he uses a straight which prompted a google search to see if people actually still did that anymore. I found this place, and started reading about all the benefits of the soap and brush. I decided on a DE due to budget constraints at the time, but I'm thinking of taking the plunge into straights now!

Pressure was my biggest enemy as well in the beginning, it seems to be pretty common in the switch from multi-blades. Glad you found good shaves!

Oh, and I play a PRS electric for the most part, with some personally tweaked wiring and pickups. I'm on the hunt for a sunburst Les Paul though...

Good luck with the straights... I'm still learning, which means bleeding on occasion but nothing beats it for a good shave. Using the straight left handed took a bit of practice. When buying the straight factor in the cost of a good strop and stone, it will be well worth it in the long run.

I gave my Black Les Paul to my son for his 18th... then I gave him my 60's acoustic Gibson for his 21st. I haven't played for years, but still have several guitars. My favourite electric is my Girl Brand - Rocketgirl. you can see it here Girlbrand gallery - guitarfritzs Jimdo-Page! It's about half way down the page and has a rocket taking off on her fret board. The pick ups are amazing and sort of go to eleven... there's a ramp up at the top of the range as you approach ten for solos.

Anyway good luck with the straight... I got a heap of good advice from here and Larry from "Whipped Dog" got me started right.

mmmm oddly enough I have a goatee and tash, I am also forbidden by the boss to shave it off. The tash is coming along nicely and I can now use moustache wax to twirl it out. She doesnt like it tho. I personally think it goes well with the bowler hat (not keen on that either lol )

Neils1304, only you and John Steed can carry the bowler off with such style. Maybe when my top lip scarring gets too bad she'll let grow one.
