A question about SRD's new razor honiing service, relating to a refresh, come time.
Sorry, I'm a straight noob, but not a forum noob. I exhausted the search function and did not find my answer.
When Lynn hones a newly purchased razor for a customer, does he use tape? I am asking, because I am thinking WAY ahead, as is my wont, about the refresh. Obviously, even a strip of electrical tape is going to change the attack angle of a refresh significantly enough. I want to match the original hone angle. So, tape or no tape? Obviously, tape would give me a steeper, more edge only refresh if he DOESN'T, but I don't want to reset an edge this early in the game..
Also, I am making a refresh strop for myself. Not sure if I will strop, or bench refresh. But I ordered some 3/32" 3"x36" balsa strips, some 3m fabric spray glue, D Rings, Paracord and some 23oz denim from Feebay. Planning to make a hanging fairly stiff strop, that I can also place on a flat surface if that proves more comfy.
Starting with 18" of Crox on balsa, then 18" of clean balsa, followed by 18" of Crox on denim, then just denim for my refresh. Sound like a solid plan?!
