I use to method of, one pass, one rinse, one flip of the wrist and I use the other side and start over, I was taking the blade out also and flipping that for a new side or edge but the blade flexes so much and wraps around the whisker I doubt if it will make a difference. So much get thrown at the blade, shave cream lather, the whisker, dragging on the skin, maybe even some skin itself, it gets worn either way.

I use both sides of razor blade during shaving. Usually shave until lather builds up on razor and then flip to the other side and fill it up and then rinse and repeat until shave complete. I only pitch blades when they start to drag which can vary widely based on the blade. Some only last 3 shaves and others I've had last 75 shaves. I've also thrown some blades out after the first shave due to them not shaving well to start with. My two favorite blades for comfort of shave and longevity are Wilkinson(Germany) and the Astra SP, but there are many others that are good too. YMMV

Thanked: 2591I go one edge till it loads with lather/whiskers, then use the other one till it does the same, then rinse and repeat.

There are enough things to worry about in this world besides some cheap DE blade and getting even wear from both sides. I've never given it a second thought.
What I really want to know is what does "The Donald" use to shave. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

To be honest i didn't worry about it, i would just use it until it stopped working effectively
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

My safety razor is a Gillette Fatboy and my theory was to use the red mark near adjustment knob to know what side, but that never worked because I didn't really pay attention. Though now if I decide to use my DE I can't get it wrong since i've been using my SE blades that I used in my shavette to try and use them up. My DE doesn't really see that much use though. Maybe a couple times in the course of going through my straight rotation to change things up.
