Finally! I have found both the razors and the key to unlock them. I had put them in separate places.
It took me 3 days of looking to get them together again! :)
The key is inserted into the bottom of the handle then turned to the left to remove the razor's head. Then a new blade can be inserted.
At least it was an attempt to keep the prisoners from slicing each other's throat. :)

I just showed that to my daughter. She is in nursing school. That would make for an interesting discussion when they do clinicals in psych ward.

Very similar to my Gillette Big Fellow in operation I think except the "key" part stays in the handle. I like that better than the traditional 3 peice style as it seems less figgitty when changing the blade.
Very cool, and interesting.
Just thinking how you might be psycho to lay that low-bar thing to your face! :D
Wonder how often they twisted the key to give the inmates a new blade?

very interesting! the ones i have are all in the 4th quarter of the year, making me wonder if they made those runs later in the year... the markings on them are all over the place as well as you noted.
