    Default DERBY blades

    Hi Gents (and Ladies)-

I was curious if anyone could tell me the significance of the numbered sides (1 thru 4) on the Derby blades.

    THANKS!!!

This question came up elsewhere and eventually someone contacted Derby themselves - they said it was for internal manufacturing purposes and in no way related to how the blades should be used.

Thank you so much. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a "hack your leg off" side versus the "five o'clock shadow" side.

I use them to tell which edge I'm using. I do a first pass on number 1, second pass on number 2.

Just thought I might resurrect this thread to say what a pleasure it is to have discovered Derby's. I'm sure there are sharper DE's out there, in fact I have used some of them, but I have found Derby's to be a smoother, kinder blade that outlasts others.

Not only that, because in the past I have haphazardly marked the edges 1/2/3/4 with a laundry marker pen, to make sure that after drying and wiping the butterfly razor and the blade I put it back in the same way up; then as the edges start to fade I could get another couple of shaves out of it by flipping it over and using bevels 3 and 4. By pre-numbering the edges, surely this is Derby's intention. It's definitely mine!

Thanks Derby, and Cheers here's to you all.

I like Derby's too. I've found sharper blades, but very few are as forgiving. If you cut yourself with one of those I think you have to be trying....

They are great VFM. I use them for minor surgical procedures like removing moles.
