I have been using the Ediwn Jagger DE89 as a back up for my str8 for the last 1 1/2 months. I convinced my wife to let me get her a DE for leg shaving. She wanted a textured long handle so I got her the Merkur long handled classic. She used it once and didn't like it, so it became mine.

I shaved with it today, and I have to say that there is no comparison between the Edwin Jagger and the Merkur. The Edwin Jagger is much better made, smoother edges, better chrome and just a delight to shave with.

The Merkur was just mass produced looking and feeling. There were at least two burrs on the bar I had to remove and the knurling on the handle is very uneven. I believe the shave is better with the Jagger as well.

Afterwords, I got online and bought another Jagger to put in my DOPP kit. I bought the DE89L this time because I like a textured handle.
