The razor is not one I have in my collection so I will ask the question, is it one where the head can be removed? If so, you might be able to buy a cheap Merkur and swap the head over.
Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes the head does screw off but no I'm not interested in swapping the head. I may just buy a Merkur instead. I know I need to work on my technique, and different blades may well help. I suppose I was fishing for information on this razor as I realy didn't know much about them, (DE's that is). I have let my face (read nicks) settle down and I'm about to imbark on shaving with a DE again, (continueing with weekend straights of course) only with the old DE I have. I think The Rooney can sit and watch for a while.
    Thanks again.

I've always found the Derby's to be pretty mild mannered blades no matter the razor it was used in. You might want to review your technique.
