Default WAAY Vintage 3 piece Gillette. Help identifying.

    Hi guys,

I just picked this up. Its a 1912 vintage Gillette. Any idea what model it is?

The chrome is in good shape, just needs some metal polish.

Are there any health issues using an old used razor, I'll defintely be giving it a good bath in alcohol before I clean it up and use it.

    Thanks.

    Ryan

You have a 1920's Gillette short comb "old type". It's gold plated brass and is a very nice shaver. I have a few of them. I always use dish soap and a soft bristled toothbrush with hot water to clean my razors, just don't scrub too hard or you can accidentally remove some of the plating. I then follow up with a 10 minute barbicide soak followed by a final hot water rinse. You can use scrubbing bubbles to disenfect the razor too. Happy shaves, you should enjoy many decades of great shaving with that razor. Jeremy-

Thanks Jeremy!! Its actually in pretty good shape. I figured if it was mild enough, or at least compared to my Parker 91R, I would use it as my daily shaver, with my parker handle. I experimented with the Parker handle on the Gillette head, and its amazing! A perfect balance. Like a retro hot rod. lol.

Thanks for the reply, Is it okay to use rubbing alcohol on the head to dissenfect.? Thanks,

A quick dab of alcohol should be fine, I have never used it on my razors but it should not affect the plating. If you run down to your local Sally beauty supply, you can pick up Barbicide for around 7 dollars. It is a hospital grade disenfectant and will not affect any of the plating on your razors. Jeremy-

Rubbing alcohol will work just fine for that. It will not effect the finish at all.
