    Default First Safety Razor Shave!

I used a safety razor for the first time last night

Make a nice foam using some Edwin Jagger Aloe Vera soap and a best badger brush, soaked my face with warm warter lathered up and shaved it off using a Edwin Jagger DE87 and a Derby Extra. Very impressed. I didn't nick myself once, but did have a small spot of blood on my neck - it might have been a pimple or ingrowing hair. I lathered up twice, going with the grain once, then against the grain the second time as I wanted a really close shave as I had a 4 day beard while I was waiting for my shaving stuff to arrive in the post. The hardest part was straight under my chin going against the grain, not the neck though. I must have been at the wrong angle as I got a few really small spots of blood (I only jsut noticed them), but they wiped off and didn't come back.

I only had fashion brand aftershave, so I just finished with some cold water. My face felt a little warm (but not bad) about an hour afterwards, but only for 5 or 10 minutes or so.

Its 26 hours later, and I'm a bit dissapointed that I still don't need to shave as my new gears sat there waiting for me to use it

Don't forget even with a DE you need to find the proper angle for your razor and you need to watch your stroke and pressure and skin stretching will help too.

    Keep enjoying those shaves.

Glad you're liking it. My first DE shave was great, I was really impressed with the result. It also helped that I had a year of SR experience, so it was an easy transition

    Keep up the good work!
