Default My first Gilette DE - info wanted

I bought my first DE today, a Gilette.

It came in a leather covered metal box, with some fluffy stuff inside. It is marked The New Gilette on the inside lid.
It is made in brass, with the very top part from copper. It does not appear to have been plated.
It comes with a small blade bank, also in yellow metal. Could be brass, but I'm guessing this one is plated.
It has a comb design (would this be known as open comb?) Sorry, I really don't know much about DE's.

Anyone know when this was made? And does this model have a name or number or something?

    Nice looking old Gillette.

Too many moving parts for me.

It's a Gillette New from the 1930's. Could be a 1930 Regent or 1930 Windsor but I'm not a expert. Should be a good shaver, the Gillette New's that I tried where in any case.

I got one exactly the same. maby not the same year though. It is a great shaver, I have not used it for some time now but when I did use it I was never let down. Enjoy!!

Before 1921, The bottom band on the handle would have a date written in the round. If no date I'd guess the 1920's if there's no crack in the handle I'd go for the early 20's. Check mr razor com. Should have a picture of the razor and case.

Thanks, good info there. I managed to find the razor at that website and have identified it as a 1930 Windsor. Fun fun, thanks.

It looks to be a long comb NEW, which is one of the best regarded shavers among vintage open comb razors. I don't know the sub-model or year, though. Pretty nice condition, though.
