    Default Gillette Super Adjustable-"Black Beauty"

I picked up this Gillette Super Adjustable at the antique mall the other day, basically as a throw in with a deal on a Wade & Butcher. After looking around on the internet, I've been wondering if these are as sought after as they seem, especially with the long handle and gold finish like mine. If they are as sought after as they seem, then why? The date code on it is P-1. Any other info on this razor would be helpful.

    Check out this website:

It looks like a 1969 Super Adjustable Gold TTO to me, but don't quote me on this. Nice looking razor.

Finally got the chance to shave with this today. Now I understand why this is one of the sought after models. Great balence and surprisingly aggressive. I had it set on seven and it snuck up on me a couple of times. Nothing bad, just a couple of weepers. Overall a nice close shave. Definitely w2orthy of a place in my rotation.

Looks to be in great shape and I've yet to find an old Gillette I haven't liked. Congrats on a nice find

A pity what the company has turned into. They made great stuff in the past and your razor is a good example.

It was in the mind of business. Once people made DE blades all over the place (driving them to today's price of ~20-40 cents per blade), Gillette had to find something profitable, which ended up being cartridges.

That said it really is a shame that they have to completely give up their DE razor production for it. I'm new to DE shaving so I haven't used a Gillette DE myself but they seem like really nice pieces. They probably never expected it to make the resurgence it's making now

Like Sagron Said you might want to get a chrome one for regular use. That thing looks mint.
I have several Gillette twist to open adjustable's and love them but my favorite is my long handle chrome.
I even got my wife to switch to them from disposables.
