I must be wierd, because my staights are easier than this thing. Of course I've only shaved with it 4 times. The shaves have been very close, yet a bit rough under the jawline ATG. I struggle here with the straight, as well. I will keep at it because its FUN!!!!! Interestingly though, I'm using the Durby blades, and they seem to get smoother after a couple of shaves. Am I imagining this????

Nice choice, I have this DE also, it's a smooth shaver. I picked this one because it reminded me of the ball end type Gillette's, that I really like the look of (minus the split handles). I use Derby's and Astra (green pack) and have had great luck with these two brands of blades.

    Hope I don't cut myself.

I have the same razor. I quit using it a few months ago since I switched to a straight razor. That is a very nice razor to shave with!! I had an old Merkur before and I think that Edwinn Jagger shaves better. I used Derby and Feather blades in mine. I like the Feather a little better because they are sharper and gave a closer shave.

That should be a good start, hopefully one of these will suit me well.

I love my straights, but travelling w/them is not easy. Especially in a carry-on. TSA frowns upon that.

Another decent blade is Wilkinson's. Since you travel a lot, you can get them at Walmart. They cost around $3.00. I tried them once and got about 3 good shaves out each razor..
