    Default Blade question

Ok so far I have tried shark
And a blade from Israel blue label.

The shark cut me but gave a bbs shave.
Israeli blade doesn't cut me as much but no bbs.
Is it possible that the Israeli blade is to wimpy?

    pbsd:

The term "wimpy" has a negative connotation. The Israeli Personna blades are highly regarded. Yes, they are mild, but they are also smooth. They are a perfect match for my Weber razor.

I find Shark blades quite harsh. I used them once or twice years ago and that was it. The cutting, however, is probably more due to technique.

Finally, I would much rather have a comfortable shave than a glassy smooth one that feels harsh.

For good blades, try: Polsiver Super Iridium or Gillete 7 O'Clock "SharpEdge" yellow packs — for starters.

    Stay well.

Everyone has diefferent tastes. I found the sharks...eh, my favorites have been the blue label personna, and the wilkinson swords from the drug store in the black case for $1.99, feathers were nice, but no more than two passes. Derby was horrible, and the gilletes were all a big flop for me. You just gotta find what works for you.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

and just as an example .. i love the Derby's and Feathers ... so like said above everyone's taste is different !!
best advice i can give , that was given to me on here is to order a sample pack of blades online and hopefully you will find one in there that meets the shave you are looking for !!

I think I wrote somewhere here the other day that I started looking at blades under the microscope. Sharks were all over the place in terms of the sizes of their bevels and level of shine. For the most part they were pretty good, but not 100%. Personnas were of military precision, definite and neat.

I find the Israeli blades to be in the middle of the sharpness spectrum yet very smooth. I get great shaves every time when I use them. As for Shark, I don't care for them at all. They feel sharp yet don't seem to be smooth cutters, and the quality of the shave is all over the map. So IMO Israeli blades aren't "wimpy"at all.
