The best of the best
I don't know much about the history of shavettes however many have said the Feather is the best shavette ever made. It's way more substantial and more the feel of a precision instrument. Some have even said to call it a shavette is like calling a Ferrari just another car.
So, when do the users of the various feather models have to say about them. Also, anyone ever seen some of the earliest shavettes? No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Spendur, the Feather is a solidly built razor with the proper heft and balance. In my hands it feels like a quality traditional straight. The workmanship is impeccable and the engineering impressive. The shave is superb. Indeed, compared to all the other shavettes I have tried, most of which have been flimsy, light and way off balance, the Feather feels like Martin de Candre next to Van der Hagen.

I started with a Dovo Shavette, moved on to straights then got the Feather SS when it came out. I still use the straights 99% of the time, but the Feather SS gives a shave that is hard to beat. I have noticed lately, however, that the Feather blades do degrade after five shaves or so. While I can still shave with them after that, doing so brings some effort into the equation, and that can cause problems. I get my best shaves with brand new blades, the razor just sliding across the face effortlessly doing a wonderful job.

I started with the Dovo as well and for the money you won't find a versatile razor it can use 3 different types of blades. I own a Feather Artist RG and a few "real" straights but the real surprise is a cheap shavette that I bought on ebay for $12.99 it takes the 2 1/2 inch personna blades. I have found it to be amazing and a welcome addition to my collection. It's great when you just don't have the time to strop and maintain an edge.

After discovering the Feather RG I really fell in love with the system. I have shaved with all the available Feather and Kai models, these days I have only 4 left, my favorites (Feather DX folding & japanese style, KAI Captain folding & japanese style)
The RG is just as good as the DX but the DX is more pleasing to the eye.
The SS models didn't give me the same shaves as the others and where sold, I just don't like the bump in the razor head, although they say it's great for beginners, maybe because I was used to straights?
The Kai Captain Excelia models where great but I was not really a fan of the edges on the handles.
These are all the ones I have tried:

And then you have the beautiful rescaled ones that people like Undream make!
