I shave using Super max blue diamond blades are there any blades that are better out there
Try a straight...it focusses your mind and makes you think about whats important in life. Its simple...If ya dont think while shaving...you get a cut...Just think
Yes there are better blades..Sharks and Feathers
And quite a few others , just have to try them blade preference is individual taste. Tc
You should order a blade sampler to get a good feel for what works for you. If you're looking for sharp, Feathers are the way to go. If you want forgiving I would recommend Derby Extras.
The best hands down for me are Astra blades. Nothing has come close to how smooth they shave. I shave with a shavette on a regular basis. I have six straights, haven't gotten down sharpening on my Norton stones and now need all the bevels reset.
Never used a Supermaxx.
I found, much like DE, a shavette will shave differently with different blades (obviously). And some that I like in a DE I do not like in a shavette.
I'm partial to Bluebirds in my shavette. But Feathers and Astras both work for me too.
On the other side: I don't like Derby at all while the 7 O'clock SS (green) last only a single shave before needing to be tossed due to discomfort (though the 7oSS blades work very well in my DE)
I've been using Shark half blades on my Parker so far, its shaved the beard well enough.
Samplers are an excellent idea. Invest in a few. Select the ones you like best and buy a few more of those brands. You'lol have your favorite blades in no time.
I've been using the sharks and have learned one thing: Change the blade every shave. I dunno if I just have tough whiskers or what but, I tried using the same blade this morning I did yesterday it pulled. At first I thought it was operator error but, changed the blade and had smooth sailing.
I have a Dovo shavette I still use when I travel...
depending on my mood I either use Merkur 1/2 DE or the Dovo/Merkur long blade (more closely emulates a straight which I use almost daily now). Both blades work for me, though I use them a max of 3 times.
Maybe I just got a proverbial "bad" blade out of the box. Honestly, up to this point I had only been using a blade once and tossing it then, I started reading how other guys have been using blades multiple times so, I gave it a go. I'm gonna make an homage towards my local drug store and see if they sell disposable blades to make an assortment purchase.
G'day,
My first day on this forum. I got a 6/8 Dovo and did everything wrong, got bloodied up and sent it for a honing. I just started practicing with a Dreadnought Shavette until I get good at it, then will give the Dovo another try. (It is due back today).
Anywho, I've been using a DE for quite a while and have used many brands of DE blades. FWIW, my favorite is the Wikinson Sword blade. I buy them on ebay and it is pretty inexpensive.
I'm using it in the Shavette, but since someone mentioned that the best in a DE may not be the best in a Shavette, I don't have a way to compare. Just my two cents.

I've seen the sampler packs online with a myriad of brands. I would really like to patronize a local store for my wares. I tell you what, there are very far and few inbetween stores that sell items for "wet shaving" .
I've tried the top twelve in the survey. This one is my favorite. Just like a smooth KY "Small Batch Bourbon" Rapira - Platinum Lux - $0.40 each - Double Edge Razor Blade
In my case all Gillette blades are very good in shavettes. My personal favourite is Personna Lab Blue and Gillette Dark Platinum.
