Try a straight...it focusses your mind and makes you think about whats important in life. Its simple...If ya dont think while shaving...you get a cut...Just think

You should order a blade sampler to get a good feel for what works for you. If you're looking for sharp, Feathers are the way to go. If you want forgiving I would recommend Derby Extras.

The best hands down for me are Astra blades. Nothing has come close to how smooth they shave. I shave with a shavette on a regular basis. I have six straights, haven't gotten down sharpening on my Norton stones and now need all the bevels reset.

Thanked: 8Never used a Supermaxx.
I found, much like DE, a shavette will shave differently with different blades (obviously). And some that I like in a DE I do not like in a shavette.
I'm partial to Bluebirds in my shavette. But Feathers and Astras both work for me too.
On the other side: I don't like Derby at all while the 7 O'clock SS (green) last only a single shave before needing to be tossed due to discomfort (though the 7oSS blades work very well in my DE)

Thanked: 118Samplers are an excellent idea. Invest in a few. Select the ones you like best and buy a few more of those brands. You'lol have your favorite blades in no time.
May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!
