I use a straight razor daily, but can't when I travel (by air). Is this the solution? Does anybody have experience getting through security?

If you check your bag it's ok, my usually take my Feather RG with me ,, but not a carry on. Tc
Yes, I failed to note that I only do carry on luggage.
Maybe I just need to get a nice Safety Razor for traveling.
Still might lose the blades in carry on, if it's a place you go all the time, you can ship your blades to the hotel, and if your a return guy you can usually leave them in their care. Tc
Thanks. Dang I may have to use disposable razors. I hate that.
I am not saying what you can or can't do but I will say that I have traveled for two years with a Dovo shavette in my carry on bag and have not been questioned. I don't know if they can't see the shape on the x-ray because it is mostly plastic or what. I figure I can always throw out the actual blade if they have an issue and get a disposable at my destination.
I like that plan!
Thank you.
You can carry pretty much anything you like in checked luggage. I don't travel with straights though because it's a hassle.
A Muhle or Omega Travel brush, some kind of shave stick and a decent DE (used to be a Merkur Futur; soon will be a Rockwell) pretty much covers the bases. I'll mail blades if I'm doing carry on luggage or just buy some (hopefully pretty easy to locate in most places) when I get to where I'm going.
Dealing with TSA is always a crap shoot. I would not travel with a loaded "anything", be it a DE or Feather Artist. I have been questioned/detained over an empty Muhle DE and once over a stick of LaToja soap (they didn't like the outline they saw on the x-Ray). Nothing was confiscated and that was good. I just don't like having to go through all that "stuff". Traveling is problematic enough these days. No need to add anything to the process.
You can always buy one locally and ship it back home, then you have an excuse to buy a new razor! The only issue there is if the razor will be shave ready...
