That one special razor

Wow. Well if we are talking that one special one it would have to be my great grandfathers razor. It come out for special shave and is a dream shaver. Perhaps its all in my head.`I do have many others in my razor inventory. My favorites change. I have a no name no frills razor simply marked sheffield that has been a favorite lately. Sometimes its one of my pumas that I hang out with more. Most often when I go away I take my Henckles Friodour twins because they shave great and I don;t worry to much about them on the boat. It's not very cut and dried with me. Every dog has it's day and my razors seem to as well.

We'd all like a video of you shaving why asea in not calm waters. It would be a thrilla of a video watching you balance with pitch and roll while doing a three pass shave.

The seas are not always rough and I'm not sure I'd want to make that video.

This razor. My personal favorite, every time. It's 'mine' I have seen similar- none the same. Shaves awesome.

Thanks. Yes I made them, they are black g10 lined red wood burl with a CA finish.

You might find your answer on my thread about favorite razors. But anyway mines a Genco fluid steel 5/8 hollow grind.
But I've honed one just like mine that must have been restored by a novice with buffing wheels and got it too hot and maybe screwed up the temper because it wouldn't take an edge like mine. The one I own on the other hand was a 22 dollar Ebay that I restored with sandpaper all by hand and polished with mothers wheel polish and dremel buffing felts. Anyway I don't have and have never held a superior edge/shaver plus it holds it's edge extremely well.

That's a really hard question; they all have special meanings or attributes. Should it be my FIRST razor, or the smoothest or the sharpest or the most enjoyable?

I went with my Jernbolaget, a tacky looking razor in a way, but very nice to use and 'different' looking...

Is that your home patina job Carl? I remember you posting something about it some time ago.

I always pick my favourite razor by my best last shave which is at the moment a $2 Bengall, cost more than that to post it, but took a real good edge, and is a pleasure to shave with.
