Thanked: 6That one special razor
Most people who are members of this forums are not just wetshavers but also hobbyists, collectors, and honemeisters chasing that perfect edge. It's easy to assume that most of you have not one, but several razors in your rotation. With this being said, is there one particular razor you guys use more than any other? It doesn't have to be the most beautiful, or a rare vintage piece, but the most enjoyable shave. I in particular use a "gunmetal" from Germany more than any of my other 15.

I've been "in" SRP since July. Amassed 19 straights to winnow down to a rotation of 14. Have also added a vintage 3 piece Gillette DE, a Christy SE and an old Injector model. Might trade out the Christy for an Auto Strop model because blades for the Christy are almost un-findable. I like a little variety in shaving and think it will take years for me to zero in on one razor. As I get to know each razors characteristics I find that I want to try another to see how that one stacks up to the first one. No two razors are from the same maker, except, there always is an except, for three out of 7 J A Henckles. I want to fill out a matched set mainly just for the heck of it. If I ever find :the one" razor I will take out an ad in the paper that just says EUREKA!.

Thanked: 13245There are quite a few razors I really love, too many too name..
But the only razors I feel I would not sell unless I was Homeless and just ate my last pack of Ramen are my Japanese razors out of the few of those I have I would be hard pressed to decide which would be the best
Those Gunmetal razors are rather nice, I have Honed and Restored maybe 4-5 over the years, Plain Jane in the looks Dept. but they take a really smooth edge and most have a sweet gentle smile...Last edited by gssixgun; 09-19-2013 at 04:11 PM.

I am kind of partial to the first razor I bought and shaved with. It was just luck my flea market buy actually produced a good shaver.

Oh, that is a tough question to answer.
At least in terms of being totally objective about the shave from them, and nothing else.
Those who know me on here will not be surpriced at what razor I do consuder to be the King in my collection though

I'm another one of those lucky guys: my first razor is still my best and it looks excellent. It would compete with the beautiful La Silberstahl I have. Both shave very well and I would rather have a daughter inherit them and not use them than sell them off.
