    Default Stupid move

Been shaving with a straight razor for about two years now with no significant problems. This morning, shaving in front of a fogged mirror, let myself get too close to the mirror. Razor handle hit the mirror and razor bounced back slicing open my chin. How retarded. Lesson learned- alum doesn't stop all bleeding.

I did that same thing about five years in - tapped the mirror, that startled me & I pulled my head back.. along the blade edge. That's the only time I really cut myself. Oh, I had my share of nicks and weepers as I learned and still get the occasional "dot" but that was the only real cut. After all these years I can still remember feeling like a doufus and, worse, displaying my doufosity to my friends and co-workers for about a week. "What'd you do to your face?" Grrrrr!

I've got about an inch and a half cut all along the bottom of my chin. Took forever to stop bleeding but isn't too noticeable unless you are shorter than I am. I was eventually able to finish shaving everything but that area. Should heal in a few days or so.

You should post it in the cut of the day forum. The worst cut I have ever had was from a DE. It was a gillete travel razor and the handle is very small and my hands slippery from some lather I didn't rinse off. Well it slipped out of my hand when I was shaving my upper lip and hit my chin on the way down. I thought I was going to bleed for the rest of my life and I couldn't shave that area for about a week and a half. Needless to say I haven't touched that DE since.

Those that have made dumb moves. Those that will again. Fortunately, my strops have taken the worst carnage. Heal quickly.

I know the feeling. A momentary lapse of concentration, blade coming in too quick and too steep an angle...

I thought of you this morning. I leaned in towards the mirror for the first time ever - trying to get a close look at razor vs. whiskers at lower lipline. As I glanced the handle nearing the glass I suddenly stopped, thought of this thread and decided I didn't need to see whiskers that closely. Sorry for your cut but thanks for sharing the heads up.
