Thread: Impossible angle on my neck area.

There is a spot on my right side right under my chin to my neck that has this grain angle that I just can't seem to figure out how to shave ATG to get that BBS. The hairs grow from my adams apple out towards the right side of my neck. So to go ATG for this area, I would have to start from the right side of my neck and work my way towards my adams apple. Anyone know a good technique to approach this type of angle?

we are waiting, apparently we have the same area..... i have found that if i always go down in that spot with a steeper angle it gets most hair off but never bbs like the rest of my face, some days i dont even try i just go with my de for that spot....

I was almost about to pull the trigger on a parker 24c just for that area. I'm holding off because hopefully, there is some technique that someone knows about that could help me with this area on a SR. but having a DE for backup probably isn't a bad idea. 30 bucks for a DE seems like good value.

sure isnt and starting with a really helped me map my beard growth, work on angle and learn what abbs shave was, and not to mention prep and aftercare. did you get a shave ready straight? I have to keep mine extra sharp because thats what im used to. i went from de to a shavette thanks to drcollisis then a straight that i only use twice a week but I do shave everyday.

It's all in the way you hold the razor. Use the opposite hand, hold the razor as vertically as possible, and come straight across from your neck to your Adam's apple. Be careful though.

I had similar issues around that same area, it just seemed very awkward to consistently shave that area, and also seemed hard to position the razor, just took time and practice, for me, the 25, 50 and 100th shave were common benchmarks I'd read here...there's also the beard mapping aspect, understanding the direction your beard grows helps, I use an ATG scything pass for that area, starting South West and scything North East after the normal first WTG pass...that seemed to work for me, but anything with a scything motion, be cautious.

See a good example of excellent neck technique, esp third pass right side, subtle upward guillotining - not for rookies.
