    Default Sprained Thumb Shaving...

Ah, peaked your morbid curiosity of people making awful mistakes, lopping off ears, carving up their face,...

Ok, so I DIDN'T sprain my thumb while shaving, but I did sprain it the night before, while playing Volleyball. And, there was a lesson learned here.

I had to shave with my dominant right hand, with its black and blue thumb, holding the razor very gently. I could not apply any pressure with my thumb. As a result, it forced me to have a very light touch.

Now, I'm about 30 shaves into using a straight razor (coming from a DE), and occasionally get nicks, mostly with my right hand. My left, although not anywhere as coordinated as my right, seems to hold the blade with a much lighter grip leading to less pressure.

With this injury I had a great shave, very smooth, and no irritation. So, I learned that I need to really focus on a much lighter touch, especially with my right...or just keep reinjuring my thumb!

I guess all sorts of things can teach you a lesson about shaving!
    Regards,

Lesson learned! Well done! Sprains heal and chicks dig scars. Just not on your face.
