Also I've heard people say you have to use really (almost negative) pressure when using one of these bad boys --- but it looks like you use considerable pressure in certain places -- am I seeing this correctly.
Justin
I found that the pressure you use depends on the hair growth...
The lighter (less dense) the less pressure.
But even so you dont use that much. Those blades can cleave your cheek open if you so much as blink.
Good wake-up call in the morning though.... nothing like swiping your cheek with a surgical blade to get the old adrenaline going...
It looks like I'm using more pressure than I should, but really I'm not. Generally, you add slightly more pressure as the blade wears. That blade there has about 8-10 shaves on it, so it is nowhere near the crazy-sharpness as when they are new. Feathers hit their stride on the 4th shave up to 15 or so. For me, anyway. Yes, at first they are very very sharp, but you just have to be more careful. You will get the odd nick, but it won't filet you, not if you are remotely experienced with straight razors, anyway.
15 shaves - the most I get is 6 - 8!
I agree that the Feather blades (super pros) hit their stride after the 2nd or third shave.
Great video.
I just shaved with a Dovo shavette.
I really just bought the thing for fun, and to see how a known sharp blade compares to my honed and stropped blades.
If one gets 5-10 shaves from each blade, I can't knock 'em. Still better off than the carts.
I admire your skills there Richard. Impressive.
It is really cool one :D
Love it and nice to see it
