My son and I were viewing bevels on a freshly honed blade when he suggested we take usb scope images of my beard pre and post shave. The oily sheen in the post shave images are the oils in Ogallala Bay Rum aftershave.
He says I "look better the farther away from me you get !" :shrug:

I don't remember the thread, but there were some photos some time ago of a comparison of collected shaved off whiskers comparing whisker ends cut by a straight and ends cut by a cartridge. The straight cuts were straight (surprise) and the cartridge cut ends were staggered.
I tried this myself a couple of days ago, and experienced something even more creepy.
Doing the post shave shots, I was pushing the microscope against my skin to try to get a little more sharpness at time, and I could see that pushing against my skin was causing the freshly hairs to start slowly sliding out from the skin, as if I didnt get a close shave.
It was pretty darn creepy if you ask me.
That's exactly why with an electric shaver you seemingly get an ultra smooth result but shortly thereafter the stubble appears. The electric yanks at the whiskers but they kind of retreat and then bounce right back.
That is interesting and gross. I'm not sure I would want to magnify my skin that much. The blackheads probably look like tar pits.:dropjaw:
Yes, if man needed to see things like that up that close the good Lord would have given us magnified eyes. It's going to take some time for those images to disappear from my head...
