Default Pre and post shave beard USB scope images.

My son and I were viewing bevels on a freshly honed blade when he suggested we take usb scope images of my beard pre and post shave. The oily sheen in the post shave images are the oils in Ogallala Bay Rum aftershave.

He says I "look better the farther away from me you get !"

That's why I never look at my self in the mirror while wearing my glasses.

Very interesting, I can see how ingrown hairs might form.

OK, as weird as that looks, now I gotta do this for myself, too.

It would be interesting to see side by side before/after pics of straight vs cartridge razor

For some reason I can't explain, I find these images disturbing.

Very cool. Thanks for the unique perspective.

I don't remember the thread, but there were some photos some time ago of a comparison of collected shaved off whiskers comparing whisker ends cut by a straight and ends cut by a cartridge. The straight cuts were straight (surprise) and the cartridge cut ends were staggered.

I tried this myself a couple of days ago, and experienced something even more creepy.

Doing the post shave shots, I was pushing the microscope against my skin to try to get a little more sharpness at time, and I could see that pushing against my skin was causing the freshly hairs to start slowly sliding out from the skin, as if I didnt get a close shave.

It was pretty darn creepy if you ask me.

That's exactly why with an electric shaver you seemingly get an ultra smooth result but shortly thereafter the stubble appears. The electric yanks at the whiskers but they kind of retreat and then bounce right back.
