I dont feel so bad now. Lots of slackers here. If i dont sha e every day its shows i didnt shave. I grow the whiskers well but at least now days they are all grey so you dont notice them as much until your up close.
And Uncle Roy, i was told to do it without asking, then ask for forgiveness afterwards. Ha. We are on the same track here.
Look on the bright side, shave every second day, your razor lasts twice as long...
After decades of not liking to shave and being nagged to do it, i now have settled on every two days(now i hear "are you shaving again?". Seems to be the right amount of time as waiting longer I feel more tugging (seems my whiskers get tougher with age). Not that i wouldn't mind shaving more often.
Count me in too, Jerry. Mines more of a seasonal thing.
My beard always seems to grow faster in the winter months, than the summer. So as of late, its been every other day or so. Hence, the reduction of posts in SOTD.
For my tough, fast-growing beard and sensitive face, I found that shaving every 36 hours seems to give the best shaves. If I shave every 24 hours, it seems my face has not quite had enough time to recover. If I wait 48 hours, my beard seems to become tougher to shave and I get tugging. If I went much longer than 2 days, I would have to use hair clippers to reduce the beard length before shaving.
Back when I was in college, it was common for the men to discontinue shaving during final exams. I had more of a beard after 3-4 days that many did after two weeks. Back then my beard was red; now it is white, so it is not nearly as noticeable; but it still grows just as fast. I enjoy shaving with a straight razor, so I consider the fast-growth both a blessing and a curse.
I enjoy straight razor shaving nearly as much as any sport I've done, yet I only shave every 2-4 days. The contrast of going from that level of stubble to a clean-shaven face just feels more satisfying to me.
And, I won't grow a beard and/or mo' simply because that removes some of the more challenging facial areas from my shaving adventures.
So, Jerry, rest easy among the well-represented slacker contingent. :)
Nice Jerry...
If you are a slacker than what will you call me? I prefer to shave every other day and skip weekends!
...Cheers
I had no idea how many of you didnt shave daily. Sense my time with Uncle Sam, it has been daily unless a weekend came along and i didnt feel like it. Thanks everyone for making me feel more like the norm, not shaving every day.
And yes, my edges will last even longer now. With as many shave ready razors that i have, i could go years before needing to hone. But wheres the fun in that.
What makes you think that 'WE' are Normal? That could be subject to some great debates.
