Like riding a bike
Due to many circumstances, I hadn't been able to shave with a straight for the last several months. Things finally are slowing a bit and I broke out the straight the other day and shaved with it for the first time in months. I was really wondering how it would go, afraid I may have painfully lost the touch. But alas, it seems to be like riding a bike...once you know how, you don't lose it. It was a great shave, much less irritating than the DE shaves I've been having as I rush from one thing to the next. Sweet shave indeed. Things are still a bit hectic, but I hope to shave with my straights more and more. It's good to be back shaving straight and I hope to be back around the forum more too.

I was wondering what had had happened to you? So often a person you see on the form regurlary just drops off. I always enjoyed you posts and advice on traditional woodworking. Good to see you back.

Yea I plan to break out a couple of my straights next week when I am on vacation. I as well would like to get back to using them at least a couple of times a week.

Thanks Don. The little I've browsed around, it seems there are more new (to me) names than old familiar ones, but I haven't wandered much yet.

I've been shaving with a Str8 for aver 23 years-but up until about 2 years ago it was only On and Off.
I went almost 5 years in one hiatus and found it was just like riding a bike.
Once you have that muscle memory programmed in your head-You are GOOD TO GO
Now, I can't imagine shaving any other way.

I had the same experience after resuming shaving with a straight after more than a decade long hiatus. I was a bit rusty the first time I used the straight but I still managed to shave without casualties.
