I don't really understand the way the options were laid out. Is there some relation between knicking oneself and getting a BBS that I am unaware of? Or did you mean to say something about irritation?
I voted pretty good, simply because I don't really aim for BBS. As Hog mentioned, trying to get everything BBS would result is some irritation. But, in addition, it's not worth my time to go totally ATG everywhere; maybe it's just me, but my facial hair changes directions rather frequently. For the most part, I go down, up, and at whatever angle is easiest and come away with a nice, close shave.

I just find the more time i spend trying to perfect the closeness, the more chance i have of nicks.
Especially because it usually involves minimal amounts of lather in these touch-ups, combined with funny angles.

I've recently gone through a rough patch. It's been about 5 months of straight shaving and in the last 3 months have cut myself 4 times. Only twice in the months previous to that.
Just last night, I was thinking 'My left hand is finally starting to figure this out', then big 2 inch slash in the chin. :gaah:
I am also refining the technique needed for the underside of right side of my jaw. Some days it is great, others it is very razor burnt. I thought I had it figured out by lightening the pressure over that area, but some shaves are still rather tingly.
But, I am still enjoying shaving far more than I ever thought I would. At least the ingrown hairs are gone now.

After two months of str8 shaving, I have a routine that consistently leads to BBS unless I test some of my hard to hone razors.
