My First Cut

Got my first cut yesterday. Been shaving with a straight for a month or so, and I ordered a shavette for traveling. So, the shavette comes in the mail, I put in the blade, lather up and start shaving. Do a WTG and doing a XTG, just missing the neck. Then...

I hold the razor with my right hand at the left side of the neck in a "Japanese-grip" wondering how to shave my neck across the grain (usually I do just WTG and ATG). Decide to move it to the other side of my neck, but unfortunately my chin is in the way. Hardly noticed it painwise although it sure was a bleeder.

After a while I realize the styptic-pencil is just not going to cut it. Now I'm not quite sure what to do. So I do what any man does when he's uncertain. I google it! The internet said something about scars. My first thought was "that's not going to look good," my second was "THAT'S GOING TO MAKE IT DIFFICOULT TO SHAVE!"

So I go to the ER-Thingy. They have a look and say it's barely a cut, almost a nick. I see the doctor and he askes how I got it.
"I shaved."
Doctor said, "well, stop doing that."

In the end the doctor say it's borderline, but decide to do one stich and the nurse put some strips on. Now that it's cleaned up and taken care of it really does not look that bad.

Sorry about that. Always take those opportunities to flirt with the nurse.

I've used some really big band-aids before. Keeping it closed is the basic idea.

Moving a razor from side to side is always dangerous.

WElli hope your not too worried about it...however something tells me that a shavette was maybe a little too much for you if you have been shaving for only a month, they do appear to be a little less forgiving...however stick with it and im sure youll get used to it
