Several weeks ago I had an Oh Wow moment...
As I was rinsing my shaving brush I realized that I had no recollection of my just completed shave. In hindsight it might have been a senior moment, but at that time I thought it was pretty neat.
A bbs auto-shave! "Made it, Ma! Top of the world!" I have mastered the blade! It only took 3 1/2 years.
I was thinking of bragging, but then What good is the destination if you do not remember the journey?
Still reveling at my shaving prowess, Let us fast forward to last week...
Half-way through my shave I plink my self with the corner of a spike point. Oh Well, sometimes these things happen. I haven't nicked my self in several months. I am still Master of the Blade.
Shave #2
My next shave I manged to remove an 1/8" square patch of skin from the point of my chin. It stings more than it bleeds. These things happen, but two shaves in a row? Not to me!
My shaving prowess is looking a little tenuous.
Shave #3
I have shaken the dark cloud of my past two experiences. I know in my heart I will have a Great albeit cautious shave.
Shaving with great care I make the first pass beside my lip and
(expletive deleted) IT HAPPENED AGAIN!
It looks like I have a 3/4" dueling scar. Thankfully it is shallow and shouldn't leave a mark.
Now I understand the mechanics of what happened: I high-sided the blade with too steep an angle while using a scything motion and no skin stretch, but this does nothing for my confidence and I have at least one more pass to make to be presentable. With my confidence shaken to the core I finished with no further injury. Phew!!
Today I used a Gillette de for the first time in over a year (gun shy of re-opening the wound) and had a decent shave. Hopefully the day after tomorrow I will back using a straight.
Just Thought I Would Share
