I have shaved my head "wet" for the past 9 years, always using the canned shaving cream. But want to go back to basics.

I usually shave my head every second day, and under those conditions it now takes me 15 minutes and 1 go, after 3 days it has to be 2 runs.

The amount of scars on the back of my head is minimal (no clue on the future), most often cut places were around the ear and near spots where the hair tends to go the opposite way (no clue on what you call that "curl" in the hair's growth).

Cuts are usually a result of very old (moe than a week) blades or "congested" blades. Anothe possibility is the disappearing of the "glidinggel" on the blades, once that is gone you will get way too much friction.

Most important with the disposable blades is keeping them clean whilst shaving. I never managed to get that right, until I started shaving under the shower, the running water washes the hairs out x times better than when rinsing the blade. The only trick is to keep the lather on ....

Furthermore I do all by touch. In case of moles etc. I put a finger on it and shave following the contours of the finger positioned, slowly moving the finger prevents cutting.

How many scars will it take ..... erm, scars do not bother me, if I do not kill myself I will keep trying till I get it right regardless.

Why do you want to use a str8 for this? You're shaving in the shower and blind, and then you're putting your finger in the path of the blade- a bad scenario for a str8. It seems to me you would do better with a safety razor, maybe even an M3P with the motor running for what you want to do.

Have done both suggested ways, but spending $40 a month on disposable blades is a waste, and motorised, well just isn't shaving ....... as mentioned before, I have been shaving my head for the past 9 years

Why? Back to the old ways, and save the wallet and maybe some environment! But do not get me wrong on using my fingers, it sets the path out, so you do no miss a spot. I only "block" 1 mole I have in my neck (this after cutting it a few times)

Basically I use my free hand as a "ruler" and skin tightener.

Why did you decide to shave your head in the first place? Naturally going bald?

Uhm, no, I used to be a headbanging longhaired nozem (now I look like a bald raver, hey, one likes his/her extremes).

I had hair to my waist down, and after a night out, and a bit of beer ..... no, not a bet....

I woke up the next morning with that always omnipresent morning-after-beer-taste (no matter how hard you brush) and when opening my mouth I noticed that I had been chewing on my hair during the night.

So I woke up with beertasting hair entangling a few teeth on a sunday morning. And that was it, barber was closed on mondays, so on tuesday I was bald (after a looooong discussion with the barber).

Freaked my mom out though. :twisted:

I like(d) it enough, well so much that I have now decided to stay bald (I was about 23 at that time, so natural baldness had not kicked in :P )

That's cool.

I'm twenty-two at the moment and have a head of hair on me. It's around chin-length. I've had it past my shoulders in recent years, but I've had to cut it down for summer employment and stuff. I don't like it too long, really. Just "lenghty."

I learned early on that most people have some troubles wityh anything they can find on a person if they want to.

I say take people the way they are (overhere they cannot make you cut your hair for employment). I do not care what religion, skincolour, ideas or looks one has, it is up to them, nor do I care what image other people have of me.

Only 1 thing counts, are YOU happy? If so, keep it like it is, if not change it as you see fit.

Oh, and on the long hair, I really did get tired of the grooming, caring split hairs etc., that helped as well (have had long hair for 7 years).

Yeah, I've never worked in a place that made me cut my hair - I just did it myself because it's so much easier when you have a hair style that can be asily stuffed under a cap or something. Even easier, I would imagine, if you were totally bald! 8)

The Headblade is the way to go. I have shaved my head for years and it is the best product I have ver used. Give it a shot. It is in the links section. Unbeatable!

Uhm, if you need a headblade you cannot shave in my humble opinion, I use a normal disposable blade and that works just fine for being a disposable, no need to get some fancy gadget.

As, by now often, previously mentioned, I have been shaving my head for years.

So no, I looked at it and just the idea of gilette blades makes me laugh, for sure in some "other" piece of plastic. Obsolete materials.

Read back, it might have some useful info for you.

Bebosky, your avatar is the Headblade symbol, isn't it? I was in Walgreens the other day and saw it and I told my wife, "That is bebosky's avatar!" She looked at me like I was nuts and walked away.

I had my brother shave my head earlier this year. (I don't know why, and I don't plan on doing it again.) But I kept it shaved for about 2-3 weeks. I found the shaving to be difficult enough with a disposable and I know for certain I would not ATTEMPT it with a straight. I would like to see someone else do it, though.

Oh, I think the little changes in hair directions are called "cowlicks," or at least they are around here.
