Shaved with the non dominant hand finally !
Last night I finally was able to use my left hand to shave all of my left sideburn and cheek. I had read this post by dannywonderful here and his suggestion to practice holding the razor while watching tv was the thing that finally got me over the hump.
I took one of the razors in my to do box and held it in my left hand and found that without much difficulty I could hold it properly and manipulate it up against my cheek while in front of the computer. Doing this by feel without a mirror.
Last night I was shaving and started to go round to the left side with my dominant right hand and remembered the practice session. So I change hands and looked in the mirror and realized why I had failed in the past.
Looking in the mirror my brain was immediately confused in trying to find the angle to go up against my cheek. So I stopped looking and placed the razor against my cheek perfectly. Once there I looked in the mirror again and began short strokes in a down pass.
Piece of cake. I didn't go beyond the cheek left handed but went back to the dominant hand for the rest. So this was really a cool thing for me. An achievement in that I have tried to shave with the left a half dozen times but was always confused at the start when looking in the mirror and gave up.
I will begin practicing manipulating the razor around the neck and moving in different directions, XTG, ATG. A hearty thanks to dannywonderful for helping an old dog learn a new trick ! :tu
