Default Multiple shaves require multiple razors?

I'm one of those unfortunates w/a heavy beard that grows so fast you can almost see it growing. I have to shave in the morning, then again before going out in the evening. Should I have 2 razors? I've read that a razor should only be used once per day b/c the teeth slowly straighten themselves over time.

Some say letting them sit for two days is prefered, but I bet it depends on the razor.
I think at least two blades is a must in case one is not ready to shave when you are.
You may find that the straight shave is close enough to last you till the next morning though.

What about the barbers that shave twenty or thirth people a day with only one or two razors? This was common in the trirties and forties, and these razors would last years.

I think thats why many old time barbers preferred a wedge which is a real workhorse. Also thats another of those old barbers tales about having to rest a razor between uses. Hey I'm already doing a honing experiment maybe someone else out there would like to experiment with just shaving with one razor day in and out for a while to set this straight for once and for all.

At the risk of future personal sales, the "let-it-rest" thing is an urban mith. Likely a marketing scheme. Metalurigists laugh at it! As long at the blade is keen at the time it touches your cheek, one razor is all you will need!

    Now, let's talk about WANTS!

Ah, more urban legends abound. OK, thanks all. (BTW, I*was* wondering about barbers who did 30 shaves / day & if they had a rack full of razors or something)

They must have had a few. "Barber's boxes" come up regularly on eBay in a couple of different sizes and outter finishes. There was a small-box-lock and a wire handle on top. I can only imagine they were mostly for taking the barber tools home for security, or to keen them for the next day's trade. Most of these boxes have larger slots for usually three scissors, and the "roof" of the box is tall enough to accomodate the scissors handles.

My old barber Jim swore the razor couldn't be used instantly after the shave and he should have been in a position to know. Can't wait for teh test results of the test on this.
